Funds that are raised by the
Jackson County Cancer Fund help
Jackson County cancer patients and their families.
The Jackson County Cancer Fund (JCCF) is
made up of the same volunteers that have for many years been the
Jackson County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Volunteers
decided after careful consideration and with input from many
community members and sponsors, to form the Jackson County Cancer
Fund organization.
The mission of the JCCF is to serve Jackson County cancer patients
and their families emotionally, financially, by offering supplies
from the local loan closet and by raising funds for cancer research
in our area.
As an all-volunteer local organization, the Jackson County Cancer
Fund raises and grants funds to provide assistance to local Jackson
County cancer patients and their families. The Jackson County Cancer
Fund also provides emotional resources for families as well as a
local Loan Closet that stocks, maintains and loans out hospital
equipment for home use such as hospital beds, wheel chairs, shower
chairs, etc.
In the years past as the local chapter of the American Cancer
Society, this group of volunteers organized and held the local Relay
for Life to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. In an
effort to better serve the local community, the Jackson County
Cancer Fund has decided to hold its own event this year to raise
funds to support local cancer patients in lieu of the yearly
American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Funds that are raised by the Jackson
County Cancer Fund will remain in Jackson County for local cancer
patients and their families in the form of gas cards for doctor
visits, financial assistance, help with bills, etc. To get
assistance from JCCF, they only require a statement of need and
physicians statement. There presently is a $300.00 budget per
Jackson County cancer patient. Applications for assistance can be
downloaded by
clicking here.
The JCCF wants to continue to support cancer research as this is
extremely important and plans to do so by donating a set amount once
per year to an organization such as the Markey Cancer Center in
Lexington or other regional research centers.
Also, donations can be made to The Jackson County Cancer Fund. PO
